General Information

Virola/Faveira plywood is a common and readily available species from South America (primarily Brazil). It is light in color, although it may sometimes come in darker shades, depending on log availability. Excellent panel for multiple applications.

General Description

Generally straight grain, medium to coarse texture, with little to no knots.

Characteristics

The heartwood color varies from pinkish to golden brown. Weight range of wood: 26-36 pounds per cubic foot. Wood is of medium density, low bending strength, medium crushing strength, low stiffness, and low resistance to shock loads.

Most Common Uses

Plywood, core stock, decorative veneers, wall paneling, cabinetry, and furniture fixtures.

Origin of Plywood

Central America and tropical South America (primarily Brazil).
